What to Expect at Your First AinyFit Class

Thinking about coming along to your first AinyFit class? You might be excited to get started but it’s completely normal to feel a little nervous too.

You might be wondering:

  • “What actually happens when I get there?”
  • “Will I know what I’m doing?”
  • “What if everyone else is really fit?”
  • “What if I’m terrible at it?” ๐Ÿ˜‚

If those thoughts sound familiar, you’re definitely not alone.

Whether you’re thinking about trying a Pilates class, giving DanceFIT a go, or simply getting back into exercise, starting something new can feel daunting. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to be fit, flexible, coordinated or experienced to come to AinyFit.

Here’s exactly what you can expect at your first AinyFit class.

When You Arrive at Your First AinyFit Class

First things first: you’ll be welcomed with a smile. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We know that walking into a new fitness class for the first time can feel uncomfortable, especially if you don’t know anyone or aren’t sure what to expect. That’s why we’ll help you get settled, show you where to go and make sure you feel comfortable before the class begins. There’s no awkward standing around wondering what you’re supposed to be doing. And when we say everyone is welcome, we really mean it. You can come exactly as you are.

You Don’t Need to Be “Fit” Before You Start

One of the biggest worries people have before trying a new fitness class is that they won’t be fit enough.

Maybe you haven’t exercised for a while. Maybe you’re completely new to group exercise. Or perhaps you’re worried that everyone else will be stronger, more flexible or more coordinated than you. Please don’t let that stop you.

  • You don't need to get fit before coming to AinyFit.
  • You don't need to be super flexible.
  • You don't need to know the exercises.
  • You don't need to have perfect coordination.
  • And you definitely don't need any previous experience.

Alison will guide you through the class, explain what we’re doing and give you options so you can work at a level that feels right for you.

Your first class is about getting started, not being perfect.

What Happens During an AinyFit Class?

Once everyone is settled, it’s time to get moving! Exactly what you’ll do depends on the class you’ve booked.

Pilates-Based Classes

Our Pilates-based classes focus on exercises designed to help you develop strength, stability and mobility.

You’ll be guided through each exercise, with options available so you can adapt the movements to suit your current ability.

You don't have to perform every exercise perfectly. Listen to your body, follow the guidance and work at a level that feels challenging but manageable for you.

DanceFIT Classes

If you’ve booked DanceFIT, expect an upbeat workout, great music and plenty of movement! ๐ŸŽถ

DanceFIT combines exercise with fun, helping you get your body moving while enjoying yourself at the same time.

And don’t worry if you’re not naturally a dancer.

You absolutely do not need to be a great dancer to enjoy DanceFIT!

You’ll be guided through the moves, and nobody expects you to get everything right straight away.

What If I Can’t Keep Up?

This is another really common concern - particularly if you’re new to exercise.

The most important thing to remember is: Your workout is YOUR workout!

You’ll be encouraged to challenge yourself, but there’s no pressure to keep up with anyone else and no competition.

If you need to take things slower, take a break or choose an easier option, that’s absolutely fine. Likewise, if you’re feeling good and want to challenge yourself, you can do that too.

The aim is to help you find a level that works for your body, your fitness and your confidence.

Will Everyone Be Watching Me?

Probably not - and we promise that’s a good thing!

One of the biggest fears when attending a first fitness class is that everyone will be watching and judging you. In reality, everyone is far too busy concentrating on themselves! They’re thinking about their own movements, listening to the instructions, enjoying the music and getting through their own workout.

And many of our members remember exactly what it felt like to walk into their first AinyFit class.

So if you’re worried about being the “new person”, remember: everyone was new once.

What Should I Wear to AinyFit?

You don’t need a fancy new fitness wardrobe for your first class. Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely, along with suitable footwear for your class. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and able to move. There’s no need to overthink it - just come ready to exercise and have a good time.

What If I’m Nervous About Coming Alone?

Come anyway. โค๏ธ

You certainly don’t need to bring a friend to your first AinyFit class. Our classes are friendly and supportive, and you’ll be made to feel welcome when you arrive. Of course, if you have a friend, family member or someone else who wants to give it a go with you, even better! But don't feel like you need to wait for someone else to join you.

You can start your AinyFit journey on your own.

What Will I Feel Like After My First Class?

You might leave feeling energised, proud and pleased that you finally gave it a go.

You may also discover muscles you didn’t know you had! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Depending on the class and your current fitness level, you might feel a little tired afterwards too - and that’s completely normal when you’re trying something new.

But perhaps the biggest thing you’ll take away from your first AinyFit class is the realisation that you can do this.

You don’t have to be super fit.

You don’t have to know all the moves.

You don't have to be confident before you arrive.

You simply have to take that first step.
